Achieving your degree is an accomplishment worth celebrating. Your graduating class is the second to have been impacted by the pandemic, and we share your sadness for the many CMU traditions during your final semesters that have been missed. We know that the experiences you have as a student are just as important as the education you receive in the classroom. Therefore, as announced earlier in this email, we will be inviting the Class of and the Class of to join us for a special Commencement ceremony that will be held over Commencement Weekend in currently scheduled for May , We will also hold a special doctoral hooding ceremony for the doctoral candidates of both classes that weekend as well.
We will be in touch with both classes during the Fall semester with details. We thank you for your patience and understanding as we have evaluated options for Commencement As I have communicated previously, we do not make any of these decisions lightly. Our primary concern will always be the health and safety of our community, and our decisions will continue to be shaped by the guidance of our COVID experts.
It is our hope that, by gathering the graduates of the Class of to celebrate Commencement, we will help our community resume a semblance of normalcy at this unusual time. December diplomas are shipped directly from the printing vendor in mid-February, so please provide a mailing address on the SIO Graduation and Diploma page where your diploma can be sent. If your address changes after the January 18 deadline, please contact uro-diplomas andrew. Important: The mailing address on your Graduation and Diploma page is separate from the permanent address listed under the My Info tab, and updating one does not update the other.
It is important to update your address in the correct location so that we know where to send your diploma. You can see how your diploma will look by checking out the prototype on the SIO Graduation and Diploma page. Note: The prototype is not an official document and may not be used as proof of your degree. Certificates of Distinction and other departmental honors are bestowed and handled by individual departments, not by the university.
Diplomas are not necessary for an H1B Visa application. We can produce a special degree verification letter , which fulfills the requirements for an H1B Visa application. We are unable to scan diplomas. If you need an electronic document to serve as proof of your degree, you may request a Degree Verification.
Summer Studies. My program concludes later than the end of the spring semester. Will I be able to participate in the Commencement Ceremony? Can I add an additional major or minor to my degree once the coursework is completed? Once the degree has been certified and granted, that degree cannot be amended in any way. I am attending Commencement, and I need a letter that shows my parents, who are not U.
How can I get this? I need to show proof of my degree for an H1B Visa; what do I do? When are diplomas distributed? I have earned college honors.
Will that be noted on my diploma? What should I do? What name should I use for my diploma? How can I reserve a CeDiploma? I've already graduated. I didn't reserve a CeDiploma, but I would like one. Is it too late? How much does a CeDiploma cost? CeDiplomas are provided free of charge.
